Although this video is from 2010 it’s still as relevant as ever: there seems to be a real misunderstanding about cyclists and their lack of paying ‘road tax’. This video highlights the fact that many motorists and road users are unaware of who pays for the roads and who is entitled to use them.

The next time you get brought up short about not paying road tax, remember that Road Tax was abolished in 1937 and that unless you’re a minor that isn’t legally required to pay tax, you’re already contributing to road maintenance in the form of your other taxes. Simply put: you are paying road tax – just as much as everyone else!
